Oct 29 – 31 · Pre-Cruise

Two Days in Barcelona

Land Friday morning, board the ship Sunday afternoon. Enough time for the greatest hits — Gaudí, the Gothic Quarter, and a lot of good eating.

To be booked

🏨 Accommodation — 2 nights (Fri & Sat)

Hotel details land here once booked. Best areas for this trip: the Gothic Quarter / El Born (atmospheric, walkable to everything old-city) or the Eixample near Passeig de Gràcia (Gaudí at the doorstep, calmer at night). Both are a short 10–15 minute taxi to the cruise terminal on Sunday. Look for late-October rates to be shoulder-season reasonable.

Arrival Day · Old City

Gothic Quarter & El Born

Morning

Land at BCN, taxi to the hotel, drop bags. Coffee and a croissant to push through the jet lag — no naps, the Mediterranean sun is the cure.

Midday

Wander down La Rambla to La Boqueria market — graze a lunch from the stalls (jamón cones, fresh juice, a seafood counter if a stool opens up).

Afternoon

Get lost in the Gothic Quarter: Barcelona Cathedral, Plaça Reial, the narrow medieval lanes. Drift into El Born for Santa Maria del Mar and boutique-lined streets. Optional: the Picasso Museum if energy holds.

Evening

Early-for-Spain tapas crawl in El Born — pan con tomate, patatas bravas, croquetas, vermut. In bed by 10; tomorrow is the big one.

Full Day · Gaudí

Sagrada Família, Eixample & Park Güell

Morning

Sagrada Família — book ~9:00 AM timed entry well in advance (they sell out; add the tower access if you like heights). Give it two hours; the light through the stained glass is the whole show.

Midday

Stroll Passeig de Gràcia past Casa Batlló and La Pedrera (façades are free; interiors only if time allows). Long lunch in the Eixample or up in the Gràcia neighborhood's plazas.

Afternoon

Park Güell — timed entry booked ahead (the mosaic terrace view over the city is worth it). Then sunset from Bunkers del Carmel if legs allow, or head down to Barceloneta for a beachfront stroll instead.

Evening

Celebration dinner: seafood paella or fideuà near the water (Barceloneta), or book somewhere special in the Eixample. Toast to the crossing.

Embarkation Day

Slow Morning, Then to the Port

Bonus hour

Spain's clocks fall back overnight — a free extra hour of sleep on embarkation morning. 🎃 It's also Halloween.

Morning

Slow breakfast, a last wander, maybe the Montjuïc cable car for a harbor view — you'll spot the ship from above. Check out by 11.

Afternoon

Taxi to the cruise terminal (~15 min) around midday. Board, lunch onboard, explore the ship. Sail-away at 5:00 PM — be on an upper deck as Barcelona slides away.

Day 1 · Embark

Barcelona, Spain

Departs 5:00 PM

All aboard. Settle in, muster, and grab a sail-away drink as the ship pulls out past Montjuïc into the Mediterranean.

Day 2 · Port

Palma de Mallorca, Spain

8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

The Balearics' capital. The honey-colored La Seu cathedral on the waterfront is the headliner; the old town's courtyards, ensaïmada pastries, and a stroll along the Paseo Marítimo round it out.

Tue

Day 3 · Port

Alicante, Spain

7:00 AM – 4:00 PM

A rare port for Royal Caribbean. Ride up to Santa Bárbara Castle for the coastline panorama, walk the Explanada's marble waves, and find lunch in the El Barrio old quarter.

Wed

Nov
Day 4 · Port

Málaga, Spain

8:00 AM – 6:00 PM

Last land in Europe. Picasso's hometown: the Alcazaba fortress, the museum, Calle Larios, and one final proper Spanish lunch — espetos (sardine skewers) on the beach if it's warm.

Days 5–13 · At Sea

Nine Days Across the Atlantic 🌊

The main event. Nine unbroken sea days — past Gibraltar, out into open ocean, chasing the sun west. Clocks fall back roughly six times en route (25-hour days!), the pool decks stay warm as we ride south of the storm tracks, and the ship becomes the destination. This is what the Ship section below is for: pick the shows, book the restaurants, claim a spot at the Hideaway, and plan absolutely nothing else.

Day 14 · Disembark

Fort Lauderdale (Port Everglades), Florida

Arrives 5:00 AM

Welcome to the other side. Docked before dawn; breakfast, disembark mid-morning, and it's ~10 minutes to FLL airport for the flight home.

Itinerary fine print: Port times are the published schedule (itinerary LE13T146) and can shift — the booking confirmation governs. One listing source showed Cádiz in place of Alicante for a sibling sailing, so worth a quick double-check of the ports on the booking screen.

Planning & Budgeting

Cruise Add-Ons & Rough Pricing

2026-era estimates to budget against — Icon-class ships price at the top of the fleet range, and everything below is per person unless noted. The Cruise Planner (post-booking) is the real source of truth.

💵 All prices in USD

🍹 Deluxe Beverage

~$85–105 /day
  • Cocktails, beer, wine, spirits up to a $14 menu cap
  • Plus everything in the Refreshment package
  • +18% gratuity added at purchase
  • All adults in the cabin must buy a drink package if one does (second adult may take Refreshment instead)
13 nights ≈ $1,100–1,600 each with gratuity. Break-even is roughly 5–7 drinks/day — honest math required.

🧃 Refreshment

~$20–35 /day
  • Mocktails, specialty coffee & tea
  • Bottled still/sparkling water, fresh juice, soda
  • +18% gratuity
Classic Soda package also exists at ~$10–15/day if it's just fountain soda you want.

🍽️ Unlimited Dining

varies — Icon-class runs high
  • Specialty restaurants every night (Chops, Giovanni's, Izumi, Hooked…)
  • Excludes Royal Railway & Hollywoodland; hibachi carries a ~$15 surcharge
  • Icon-class has priced near $90–100/night equivalent; long sailings may price differently
A 3-night dining package (~$85–115) may be the sweet spot on a 13-night trip.

📶 VOOM Wi-Fi

~$22–30 /day/device
  • Starlink-powered — genuinely usable mid-Atlantic
  • Priced for the full cruise, per device
  • 2nd device typically 20–40% off
13 nights ≈ $250–400 per device pre-cruise. Buying onboard costs more.

🔑 The Key

~$26–50 /day
  • Priority boarding, show seating, flexible arrival
  • Includes 1-device Surf & Stream internet
Rule of thumb: only worth it when it's within a few $/day of the internet package alone — and priority perks matter less on a 3-port itinerary.

🤝 Gratuities

$18.50 /day (suites $21)
  • Automatic daily service charge
  • 13 nights ≈ $240 each
  • Prepay at booking to lock the current rate before any 2027 increase

💆 Spa & Thermal Suite

~$109–199 /pass
  • Thermal suite pass (single/couple) for the whole cruise — heated loungers, steam, sauna
  • Massages/facials ~$150–250+ à la carte
  • Watch for 30%-off Cruise Planner sales and port-day specials

⬆️ Royal Up

bid — from ~$30–100+/pp
  • Blind-auction cabin upgrades after booking
  • Charged only if you win; notified up to 2 days out
  • Repositioning cruises often have availability — but Legend will still be new and popular

🚌 Shore Excursions

~$40–200 /port
  • Only 3 ports — total excursion spend stays modest
  • Palma, Alicante & Málaga are all extremely walkable DIY ports
Honestly, all three old towns are steps-to-a-short-taxi from the pier — independent exploring works great.
Transatlantic math: Per-day packages multiply fast over 13 nights — but with 9 straight sea days, drinks, wi-fi, dining, and the thermal suite deliver more value per dollar than on a port-heavy cruise. Check the Cruise Planner early and often: prices fluctuate, sales are frequent (Black Friday 2026 will land a year before sailing), and packages can be cancelled and rebooked at a lower price penalty-free until ~2 days before sailing. Also compare the bundled drinks+dining+wi-fi package against buying separately.
